Millom Coastguard Team was tasked at 7.53pm last night (June 16) to investigate a suspicious item spotted on the beach south of Seascale. Coastguard volunteers took pictures of the item, which was partially buried in the sand, and sent them to the army’s bomb disposal team based at Catterick.

If you find anything that appears to be an explosive device, do not touch it, leave it where it is and call the police. We will contact the appropriate agencies to properly dispose of the item.
