A 100 metre police cordon has been put in place due to a “unexploded device” in Market Street in Abbotsbury, Weymouth on Monday (July 25). A route through a village has been closed by emergency services after the incident occurred on the B3157 Rodden Row in Abbotsbury, with emergency services at the scene. A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “Dorset Police received a report at 9.04am on Monday 25 July 2022 of a possible unexploded device in Market Street in Abbotsbury, Weymouth. A 100-metre cordon has been put in place for the safety of members of the public and the B3157 West Street is currently closed between the junctions with Abbotsbury Hill and Rodden Row. “The EOD has been requested to attend to check the item and make it safe.” Traffic sources are reporting heavy traffic in the area as motorists divert around the road closure. An update from Inrix reads: “Rodden Row in both directions closed, delays due to police incident from Hannahs Lane to The Swan Inn.”
