東京・杉並区で先月見つかった太平洋戦争当時のものと思われる不発弾の処理作業が行われました。不発弾の処理作業が行われたのは、杉並区和泉２丁目にある駐車場の跡地です。不発弾は先月、伐採したイチョウの木の根を掘り起こす作業をしていた時に見つかりました。杉並区によりますと長さ１メートル、重さ５０キロのアメリカ製の焼夷弾で、太平洋戦争中の空襲で使われたものではないかということです。処理作業は、現場から半径４０メートルに住む２０世帯およそ５０人に避難が要請され、現場近くの道路を通行止めにしたうえで、午前９時から始まりました。陸上自衛隊がおよそ３０分で信管を抜き、処理された不発弾は現場から撤去されました。規制区域の外では近くの住民たちが作業を見守っていました。杉並区の井上純良危機管理室長は「処理が無事に終わり、ほっとしている。近隣の住民には迷惑をかけたがご協力に感謝したい」と話していました。
警察は「不発弾を見つけたら近づかず連絡してほしい」と話しています。
