A controlled explosion’s been carried out on Saltburn Beach – after a possible war time explosive was found. It was spotted by a member of the public this morning, with specialist teams from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team (EOD) and the Coastguard, carrying out the detonation just after 4am. A cordon that was put in place has since been lifted.
