A World War II era artillery shell found during digging in a Leaside garden has been taken away by the Armed Forces to be exploded safely. Police said the device, which was not fused, might still be capable of detonation with rough handling. The shell was delivered to the fire hall at 231 McRae Drive Saturday about midday by residents who discovered it.
