The Rhode Island woman found the grenade late Sunday morning and immediately called authorities, Smithfield Deputy Chief Steve Quattrini said. The Rhode Island State Bomb Squad responded to the scene, X-rayed the grenade and determined that it was live. “Shrapnel, damage to the human body, could be deadly if you’re close enough,” Quattrini told WLNE-TV.
